My 24th!

A year really does fly by. This time last year, Derrick and I weren't even engaged, and now we are married, we own a house, and back in school, how crazy. It's amazing what you can get accomplished in ONE year.

Over the weekend, we had some pretty big events with my work. I was one of four organizers for a Jazz concert we put on at the Contemporary Museum Friday night. We had two performers and overall the event was a huge success. Saturday morning we were at in around 8 a.m. again at the Contemporary for opening day events for the championship. Saturday was around a 13-hour day...so glad that part of the weekend was over. However, when I did arrive home Saturday night, a big surprise was sitting on my front porch for me...pumpkins, hay, corn stalks, and more pumpkins!!! I think Derrick was feeling festive and fall-ish and wanted to contribute to the house's personality!!! He was just so proud of himself, I mean, he placed each pumpkin strategically so it would look perfect, and it did.Birthday flowers I recieved on Thursday evening ;)

This picture of Derrick is funny to me. You can't see it well, but our crock pot is sitting on the counter because Derrick was making chili cheese dip before the party started. However, when we were at the store earlier in the day, Derrick only picked up one can of chili. So he decided to put Manwich in the mix. It was hilarious; we thought it would be gross but it actually turned out great!
Sunday was my birthday party at our house. My family, Derrick's family, and some friends (Julie, Lo, and Eric) came over at 3 p.m. for a birthday BBQ. I was super excited to have people over and to also be grilling on our new grill. Mike and Sandy's neighbors just moved so we got an awesome grill for FREE!!! It's so much easier to have a large group of people over when you have a grill to cook on.

Everyone just hung out outside because the weather was gorgeous, or inside watching the games. Turning 24, I got some great presents - my mom got me some cute little brown shoes and some cash because she knew I'd been wanted to order some boots online. Sandy brought me a big fern, gourdes from the Ste.Gen pumpkin patch, some cash, and raspberry truffles. Julie and Lo know me all to well...here are all the items that were in my bag of goodies - an awesome chunky bracelet, a picture frame of the three of us, a vintage scarf, a GC to Hobby Lobby, 2 Snickers bars (just what I need) and Lo remembered that I was talking about this nail polish she had on, it was like a deep purple, so that was in the bottle of the bag as well!!! I have good friends & family. Every year, Derrick takes me shopping. However, this year we didn't get a chance this past weekend, so yesterday, thanks to my awesome boss, she let me off work, so I took the day and went shopping!

Last, and certainly not least, Lo made me a deadly cookie cake, and my mom brought delicious cupcakes. After reading this blog, I'm sure you've realized that everyone who knows me, knows that I am a sweets person, I really can't get enough chocolate. It was a great day that ended with my falling a sleep in the basement, not even making it to watch Entourage at 9 p.m. :(

Tonight is one of Julie and I's classes at the gym... can't wait!
