How Fast One Year Goes By

Today, September 3rd, is the one year mark that my 'Pap' passed away. I just can't believe he has been gone one year. So much has happened in the past year. We all miss him a lot, my grandmother the most. It's just been a big transition for everyone.

Interesting story: I've been wanting to hang a couple things throughout the house, so Derrick and I went to Lowe's last night, got some sticky tape and came home. (A lot of our walls are solid.) I hung a sign in the bathroom upstairs and went to bed. I woke up in the morning and it was on the floor. So, this morning, I found myself trying to hammer and drill holes in the wall to hang some stuff. The interesting part about this story is that I haven't used these tools EVER. Ironically, they are ALL of my Pap's tools. I was half way through my job of hanging things, thinking about Pap and realized that these were all his...a few tears came...

Pap had given Derrick a lot of his tools about a year and half ago. Everytime Derrick used something out of the tool box he always mentions Pap and how he misses him and talks about the conversations they used to have.

I remember when I was little, Pap was such a 'hands on' guy. He could fix literally anything and do these crazy math problems in his head. He was so successful, kind, good-hearted, and a wonderful grandfather. I know my Dad is going to be the same kind of 'Pap' some day.

On a lighter note...
Congratulations Natalie Longwell for delivering a very beautiful and healthy baby boy at 2:48 a.m.!!! Welcome to the world, baby Carson!!! We all love you!!!
